So why are senior portraits such a big deal?  Senior portraits when I was a senior was shlepping to school on one special day where a photographer would set up a ‘studio’ in the gymnasium for a few hours.  I prepped for this session with a floral dress, spiral perm, braces, and bangs as high as the Eiffel tower.  We were given ‘proofs’ of shots that looked amazingly similar from which to choose.  Which ONE images represented all of my years in high school?  Which ONE image showed me for who I am?  What makes me special?  Who am I compared to the other Erin S. standing behind me in the lineup in the hot school gymnasium?  The answer is none of them really did.

20 years later the advent of digital photography, exploration of ones’ self and acceptance that we are all unique, lead to the senior portraits which celebrate a life stage – for many teens, their entire senior year is filled with milestones, and it is definitely one worth noting and celebrating in many ways, including portraiture. It’s their last year of high school, but so much more.  It is also typically their last year with the friends they grew up with, their last year at home (it will never be the same, even if they are twenty seven and living in your basement), and their last year of truly being under their parents wings.  Their senior year is about being on the cusp of something great – their futures, and they will never see the world the way they do right now. Documenting that with professional photography is one way of ensuring that you never forget who they are, RIGHT now.

Each senior session is uniquely yours.  I offer a range of sessions to fit each budget from a few simple shots on a lunch break to a full blown photo shoot with outfit and makeup changes.  I am here to document the story you want to tell of your senior year.  I have loads of flexility and lots of great locations in my back pocket but the final decision on where when and how is all up to you.

My schedule for 2019 senior pix is filling up so even if you’d like to shoot your session in late July or August you need to book it now.
