I’m so lucky to be able to share my passion for photography with others in the Buffalo area.  I love teaching photography lessons and meeting wonderfully talented people.

Last week I met up with Kathy for a private lesson.  Kathy had a great eye for capturing action in nature but wasn’t getting the quality of shots she aspired.  In a single email we got set up with a time, date and place to meet.  She brought along a notebook, her camera and a few examples of her work.  We chatted for a bit and it turns out she had shot with film in the past and had a great understanding of the exposure triangle.  (Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO)  We simply needed to talk about how to adjust each of those elements with her new Canon Rebel DSLR.

We scrolled through a presentation that I had pulled together for her.  During the lesson we talked about lighting scenarios, photographing in the snow, exposure compensation, and low light photography.  We took some test shots and by the end of the hour and a half Kathy was ready to take on the world with her new camera.  She followed up with an email and a pic

Hi Erin!
I keep forgetting to drop you a note to say THANK YOU for my lesson!!! You are great!
I did end up getting  the 50mm lens………..because……….I wanted it. I’m sending two pics of my dog Yancy to show the pics. I see that somehow I managed to focus more on the nose than the eyes but I will keep working at it.

It’s still snowing and I’m tired of it!!!
Have a great week.
